Antitox Tet™
Beef Cattle Antitoxin
Product
Information [pdf]
Antitox Tet is an antitoxin product that helps prevent
tetanus. Tetanus is caused by a type of bacteria called Clostridium
tetani, which
are present in manure and soil. These bacteria can only live
in conditions where there is no oxygen supply, such as damaged tissue.
When cattle undergo routine surgical procedures such as castration,
they are at risk of tetanus infection. The bacteria produce
a
potent toxin that travels to the central nervous system and
usually causes death.
The routine use of Antitox Tet prior to such
surgical procedures can help prevent this deadly disease. Antitox
Tet is an antitoxin
product
prepared from the blood of horses hyperimmunized with C. tetani toxoid.
