Parvo Shield®
Swine Vaccine
Product information and trial results [pdf]
The ideal pre-breeding vaccine, Parvo
Shield L5E provides solid protection against parvovirus,
five strains of leptospirosis and erysipelas. Parvo Shield
L5E helps producers manage for consistent conceptions and
well-synchronized farrowings with large litters of healthy
pigs.
Gilts and sows should be vaccinated 4-6 weeks
prior to breeding, with a second dose in 3-4 weeks. Revaccinate
with a single dose 4-6 weeks prior to each subsequent breeding.
(In gilts, maternal antibodies to parvovirus may persist for
5 months or longer; that is why the first dose should be given
no earlier than 4-6 weeks prior to breeding.) Boars should be
vaccinated semi-annually.
Other Parvo Shield combinations include Parvo
Shield L5, which combines parvovirus protection with five strains
of lepto, and Parvo Shield E, offering protection against parvovirus
and erisypelas.
